Services for Children

The Sound Center provides services to children with speech and language disorders and children who would like to get ahead. Whether your child is struggling to communicate clearly, receiving negative feedback from his or her peers, or would like to enhance written and spoken English skills, The Sound Center can help!

• Does your child need more speech-language services than the schools can provide? Perhaps it been determined that your child's speech and language skills are adequate, and there is "no adverse effect." The fact is, even a mild articulation disorder can have significant social and emotional effects. Inez understands that small issues can have big consequences.
• Is your child in need of a more individualized approach than the schools can provide? Your child may be in group therapy in school. You think this is helping, but you also know that he or she performs better in one-on-one situations. Because Inez is also a school speech-language pathologist, she can help make sense of the services being given at school, and provide the one-on-one care your child needs.
• Is behavior a problem? We have therapists experienced in dealing with children with challenging behaviors. They know how to manage and shape behavior so that your child is ready to learn new speech and language skills.

If you would like to schedule a session for your child, our speech-language pathologists can do a complete evaluation, plan, and therapy once or twice weekly. If your child is receiving services at school, a complete evaluation may not be needed. Call us for more information at 630-435-5622.

In addition, therapy can take place in the comfort of your own home. The natural environment of home-based therapy improves carry-over and is much more convenient. Our speech-language pathologists can travel to surrounding areas including Downers Grove, Naperville, Woodridge, Darien, Clarendon Hills, Oak Brook, Hinsdale, Wheaton, Willowbrook, and Lisle.
